Uploading enabled!

Hi all. Just letting you know it’s now possible to upload your photos. To ensure this site doesn’t use too many resources, your photos will not be immediately available. I have to manually approve them at this stage, and when uploaded they go into a directory not available to the public. So don’t bother trying to hack around it. And don’t expect your photos to immediately appear: they will probably be visible within 24 hours.

The best way to upload your photos is as a ZIP file. If you’re using Windows XP, the process is two pretty simple steps.

  1. Get all the photos you want to upload into one folder
  2. Right-click on a folder filled with the photos you want to submit, then click Send To → Compressed (zipped) Folder.

  3. (Okay, three steps) Head over to http://year12.joahua.com/upload.php and upload the zip file you just created. It will have the same name as the folder did.

There is a 50MB limit on uploaded files. However, it is recommended you do not upload files greater than 20MB. Simply break up your photos into several folders. If this all sounds too complicated, it’s probably best to just give a CD to myself or another geek and let them do it!

Note: As photo files are often quite large, be patient during the transfer—or, if you are on dial-up, a better option would be to do it at a friend’s house (one with broadband) or burn a copy to CD and give it to me in person.
